The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning has hit Bismarck!

You know and love our F-150s, but the Ford Lightning takes F-150s to a whole new level. Why? Because the Ford Lightning is the first all electric Ford truck.

The Ford Lightning is changing the game and bringing something new to all Ford and truck customers. Come along with us in this three-part series to learn more about the Ford Lightning, and all of its new and exciting features, starting with design and style.

The sleek and stylish design of the Ford Lightning was designed for you, with features you didn’t know you needed.

Let’s dive into one of the most exciting pieces of technology: the Ford Co-Pilot 360.

Ford Co-Pilot 360 Technology learns with you, and will have your back no matter what you’re doing or how you’re driving.

Each of the 12 features allows you to be in control the whole time, while guiding you and keeping you safe.

  • Ford Bluecruise Hands-Free Driving lets you drive hands-free on more than 130,000 miles of divided highways in North America. Equipped with a driver facing camera that makes sure you are still keeping your eyes on the road, you can enjoy your drive more than ever before.
  • BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Trailer Coverage is built as an added insurance. The system will alert you if there is a vehicle in your truck or trailer's blind spot.
  • The Lane-Keeping System will help you stay in your lane if you stray a little too close to the lines. And if you drift a few too many times, it will remind you that it may be time to take a little break.
  • Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking scans the road and will alert you if there is an object detected ahead of you. If you get too close, the brakes can apply automatically.
  • Auto High-Beam Headlamps automatically dim your brights if it detects oncoming headlights, allowing you to focus on the road at all times.
  • Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control will slow you down if the traffic detected ahead has stopped or slowed down.
  • On-Demand Rear View Camera offers a crisp 180-degree view of whatever’s behind the vehicle. You do not even need to be in reverse for the camera to work!
  • Pro Trailer Backup Assist helps you backup your trailer by simply rotating the knob in the direction you want your trailer to go.
  • Hill Descent Control uses traction control technology with anti-lock brakes that allows you to prevent slippage and maintain a constant speed while going down steep inclines.
  • Connected Built-In Navigation will smoothly guide you to your destination, but can also direct you to the nearest gas station or coffee shops if you need a quick stop.
  • Evasive Steering Assist can make it easier to potentially avoid a crash. If an object quickly swerves in front of your vehicle, it will alert you and provide extra steering support so you can smoothly maneuver around the object.
  • Active Park Assist 2.0 makes parking easy, even in tight spaces when parallel or reverse perpendicular spots. Once the parking spot is located, all you have to do is brake to a complete stop, shift into Neutral, and hold down the Active Park Assist button, and the truck will park itself.

Now let’s flip the switch and dig deeper into the new lighting features available with the Ford Lightning.

The Ford Lighting comes equipped with Zone Lighting, which illuminates 360 degrees around your truck. By using your touchscreen in your vehicle or the FordPass app, you can control each zone individually.

There is also new LED box lighting, for when you are working or looking for something in the bed of your truck.

To navigate twists and turns, there are new LED Projector Dynamic Bending Headlamps, which help you to maintain visibility while cornering.

And the final new exterior lighting feature on the Ford Lighting is the enhanced lighting on the running boards! No need to worry about missing the step into the truck on a dark night, because the LED lighting on the running boards will guide you into your vehicle.

Moving to the interior, there is new Premium Ambient Interior Lighting, which is customizable to the driver through your SYNC system. Adjust the brightness of the lights by your feet, on your dash, by the phone charging compartment, and even in your cup holders!

Let’s take a quick look at some of the other exciting features of the Ford Lightning:

  • Tailgate Work Surface - The surface of the tailgate is non-slip, which helps grip your cargo. It also has two concealed clamp pockets, which allow you to clamp wood or tools to the tailgate. It is also equipped with embedded rulers, two tie-down/bottle openers and cup holders!
  • 360 Degree Camera - See all angels around your truck with four cameras: one in the tailgate, one in the grille, and one on the bottom of each side view mirror.
  • Easy Access Under Seat Storage - Need extra storage? Flip up the back seats for convenient and secure storage!

And finally, one of the most exciting features of the Ford Lighting, the Frunk!

The frunk, otherwise known as the front truck, is an extra storage area for you, and is the largest front truck of any all-electric pickup.

The frunk is both water-resistant and drainable, and has 2.4 kW of power, four 120v outlets and two USB chargers.

You can hold up to 400 lbs in the frunk, perfect for long trips or if you have a lot of equipment for work.

“The Ford Lightning is changing the game when it comes to electric vehicles. We are very excited to be able to offer our customers a new line of vehicles that fit more of our customer’s needs,” says our New Car Manager, Mike Wishek.
