Examples of the standout interior features available include the Chill Zone, a cooled storage compartment that can hold up to four beverage cans, a heated/cooled cup holder, stain-resistant seat fabric, LED directional interior lighting, and MP3 playback compatibility. There's also a rear-seat video system, a Bluetooth UConnect hands-free cell phone interface, and an available audio system known as MyGig, which integrates a navigation system with a 20-gigabyte hard drive for storing music and images.
The Avenger is available in two different models: the SXT and the sporty R/T. A 173-horsepower, 2.4L four-cylinder engine is standard, and it is capable of up to 30 miles per gallon on the highway, according to EPA estimates. The 2.4L is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Optional on the SXT is a 2.7L flex-fuel-capable engine making 189 horsepower. A 235-horsepower 3.5L V6 is optional on the R/T and is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission with Auto Stick manual control. All avengers are front-wheel drive.
The SXT comes well equipped, with standard keyless entry, the Chill Zone, power windows, locks and mirrors, air conditioning, a split folding rear seat, satellite radio, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and cruise control, and fog lamps. Sporty R/T models include leather upholstery power heated fold-away side mirrors, automatic climate control, 18-inch chrome wheels, a sunglasses holder, and more.
Options include a Navigation and Sound Group, which features a navigation system with voice recognition, traffic information, a Boston Acoustics sound system, hard drive, Bluetooth and an iPod adapter.
Front seat-mounted side air bags and side-curtain air bags that cover front and rear occupants are standard on all Avenger models, as are anti-lock brakes. Traction control is optional.
