2018 F-150 Continues to Bring Bold to Bismarck

Posted at Fri, Jan 19, 2018 12:15 PM

The new F-Series has been leading the truck world since 1977, but it hasn't been an easy road to drive. When Ford invested more than $1 billion into the new body style of the F-150 in 2015, it raised some eyebrows. After all, why would you close two manufacturing plants for 13 weeks just to accommodate an aluminum design?

It was a bold move, but if it's one thing Ford has learned from 41 years of truck leadership, it's that bold moves pay off.

Here in 2018, the newest F-150 continues to dominate the truck world, and we're very excited to be able to offer Western North Dakota's best selection.

Thanks to a variety of bold changes under the hood and in the cockpit, Ford has once again taken the award for 2018 Truck of the Year.

Not only does the F-150 have best-in-class fuel economy and towing, but it also has class-exclusive tech, plus a new Built Ford Tough™ exterior design and freshened interiors.

Long-time Ford fans here in North Dakota will appreciate the updated 5.0L V8, which now features advanced dual port/direct-injection technology and spray-on bore liner technology for reduced weight and best-in-class payload capacity of 3,270 pounds.

Under the Hood This Year

The enhanced 5.0L is paired to a segment-first 10-speed Ford SelectShift™automatic transmission with four selectable drive modes – normal, tow/haul, snow/wet and sport. The new 10-speed automatic is shared with the 2.7-liter and 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines as well.

The 2.7L EcoBoost continues to be one of the most popular engine options in the F-150 lineup. Our customers appreciate the impressive mileage: up to 26 mpg highway. With 325 horsepower, this relatively small engine doesn't skimp on power. In fact, this, the smallest engine available on the new F-150, can pull an impressive 5,000 lbs.

The next step up in size on the 2018 F-150 is the 3.5L EcoBoost, with only one less MPG (25) than the 2.7L. The 3.5L EcoBoost turbo V6 can tow more than ever before, and more than any other pickup in its class. This second-generation EcoBoost is rated at 375 horsepower and a best-in-class 470 lb.-ft. of torque. It can also pull up to 5,000 lbs.

Pulling Even Further Ahead

All three of these impressive engine options can be combined with Ford's current list of smart towing features, such as the Pro Trailer Backup Assist, dynamic hitch assist, smart trailer tow connector, factory-installed trailer brake controller, blind spot information system, or the 8" productivity screen.

Test drive a new 2018 F-150 yourself here on the Expressway, and we would be happy to show you how any of these features works.
