Ryan Else always knew he wanted to work with cars, which he has done for the past 12 years as a technician for Eide Ford in Bismarck. He likes fixing cars and sending people down the road as happy customers.

Now he has a chance to witness that satisfaction firsthand as the new Parts and Service Director.

Enjoying the 'People" Side of the Business

“In the new position I will enjoy being able to interact with the people who bring their cars into our shop,” he said. “I’ll still help them but be on the people side.”

Else took the reigns as Parts and Service Director for Eide Ford Sept. 1, taking over for Dave Danielson. Danielson, who trained Else for the past year, is starting a phased retirement.

Monitoring Daily Operations

On a daily basis, Else will monitor the general operations of the Eide Ford Service Department. He’ll make sure customers are taken care of properly and ensure the parts department has the correct parts.

Else has made a career at Eide Ford because he has a good working relationship with his co-workers, in addition to his affinity for fixing cars.

A native of Verona, N.D., Else grew up working on cars with his father, a mechanic. He trained to be a mechanic at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton for two years, where he met his wife.

The couple moved to Bismarck and have a 7-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter. Else enjoys spending time with his family, with activities like golf, miniature golf and frisbee golf. He likes to read and work on model cars.

Else, who drives a Ford Explorer, said the customer service at the parts department is top notch, which draws people who are looking for an oil change in Bismarck (or other service) to Eide Ford.

“We are quality driven and we have really friendly staff and several certified technicians,” he said. “I look forward to helping customers and making the service department continue to grow.”
