There's big news in the truck world.
The 2018 F-150 is joining the elite ranks of half-ton diesel trucks.
With only a couple half-ton trucks on the market that boast an available diesel engine, this is exciting news for truck lovers everywhere. For our North Dakota customers, you'll want to stop in soon for a test drive and experience it for yourself!
F-150 drivers have been waiting for the Truck of the Year to get even better for awhile now, and the diesel engine is certainly causing a roar.
Ford has been keeping an eye on what its customers want for years. Research shows that that while light-duty truck buyers look for comfort, quietness, and fuel economy as priorities over towing and payload (like their heavy-duty buyer counterparts), light-duty truck buyers still want to know that their truck can safely tow and haul in those "just in case" moments.
After a few years of patiently watching, Ford knew what it needed to do to assert dominance over the RAM EcoDiesel:
If you're a North Dakota truck driver who doesn't quite need the power of a Ford Super Duty truck, but still want to be confident that your F-150 can perform tough work when you do need it to, the new 2018 F-150 diesel may just be the truck soulmate you've been waiting for.
Here's where the real truck lovers have fun – let's look at all the specs of what's inside.
The 2018 F-150 diesel option runs on the familiar 3.0-liter V-6, complemented by a crankshaft found in the 2.7-liter EcoBoost gasoline engine and gets its boost from a variable-geometry turbocharger.
That gives us a total output of 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. Add on the 10-speed automatic transmission, and Ford makes the most of the diesel torque curve.
The 3.0-liter Power Stroke diesel is available in the 2018 Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims. Deliveries began in Spring of 2018, so we have already have a few on our Bismarck lot.
We look forward to telling you even more about the new 2018 F-150 diesel when you stop in for your test drive!
