Salesman of the Month: Merlin Haugen, the Problem Solver

Merlin Haugen has only been with the Eide team for about 3 months, but we're proud to have him on board. On top of having a few years of sales experience under his belt, Haugen brings more than 30 years of auto service knowledge to the showroom in Bismarck.

Merlin first got a sense of what sales was like while working in a dealership's service department.

"I’m kind of a problem solver by nature, from being on the service side," he said.

And he says working on the salesfloor is a similar concept.

"People talk about their problems, and I find a solution," Merlin said.

"We are very lucky to have someone like Merlin in our sales department," said Casey Neumann, General Sales Manager. "Merlin has a very extensive background in service and sales both, which makes him the perfect fit to answer today's more educated consumer."

According to Haugen, it always stands out to customers that Eide Ford Lincoln is straightforward on pricing. That makes it easier to focus on what the customer needs a vehicle to do, instead of the finances.

"There’s no haggle," he said. "The price is on the window. I just have to help them find the car that fulfills their dreams or the one that fits their life at the time."

What's the best part of your job?

Merlin: Finding the right vehicle. The customer feels a rush from it, I feel a rush from it. That’s kind of the ultimate right there. It gives you a feeling you can’t describe.

How do you spend your free time?

Merlin: Long range shooting, target shooting with pistols, and boating

Who would you like to thank for this award?

Merlin: Eide Ford, their management team, and my customers. They all helped me get there.
