Eide Ford's Employee of the Month: Dan Gabel, Diesel Tech

Each month at Eide Ford, we select one team member as Employee of the Month. This is someone who goes out of their way to do something that not many others are willing to do, is always looking out for the entire team and all customers, and embodies the Eide Philosophy.

Diesel Tech Dan Gabel is our Employee of the Month for November 2017! Dan has been a valuable member of our team for nearly a decade, and his exceptional skills and vast knowledge have helped hundreds (if not thousands) of our customers get back on the road. 

Going the Extra Mile for Diesel Drivers in Bismarck

Eide Ford Service Manager Ryan Else appreciates Dan's willingness to step up for the diesel shop's customers – especially in time-sensitive situations. 

"Dan was the perfect guy for the Employee of the Month award because he's a great technician and goes out of his way to help others out," said Else. 

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, for example, Ryan called up Dan to come to the shop for a special case. A diesel driver from out of town was having engine problems, and pulled off of I-94 and stopped at Eide Ford's Diesel Shop for help. 

"This guy was hauling a load of venison from Montana to Pennsylvania, and we needed to get his engine fixed before the meat thawed out," said Dan, who finished the job Saturday evening. "It just feels nice to be here for people when they need help like that."

Being there for customers is what makes Dan such a great guy to work with, according to Ryan. 

"When I was a technician, [Dan and I] worked beside each other for a few years," said Ryan. "He's a really good tech, and it's his passion to work on vehicles. I know that he spends a lot of his free time working on vehicles at home, too."

Throughout your 9 years with Eide Ford, you've gone through several certification courses and are now a Senior Master Technician. What is the best part of being in that role?

Dan: It feels good to be the expert. Our shop is really the best place for people to bring their trucks when they need to be fixed. It's always a good idea to take your vehicle to the dealership to let us figure [the problem] out. 

Why did you decide to specialize in diesel repair?

Dan: Honestly, it's because of the power. Diesels are just worth fixing more than other types of vehicles. People pay good money to get them fixed, and diesels just last longer. 

How do you spend your free time? 

I like to go snowmobiling, and I spend a good amount of time working on a 2003 Mustang Cobra.
