Eide Ford Technician Earns Store’s Sixth Master Certification in Bismarck

Brock Johnson recently became the sixth Certified Master Technician at Eide Ford. Johnson reached the milestone in June after completing more than five years of education in Ford’s certification program.
Ryan Else manages Eide Ford’s service operations at the dealership and at the company’s diesel shop where Johnson works. Else has high praise for Johnson, who has been with Eide Ford since 2014.
“I’m very happy for Brock. It’s always great to see our guys reach this milestone,” said Else. “He’s a reliable guy. He comes in and is always willing to take on the work that we put in front of him.”
About the Program
Becoming a Master Certified Technician involves a five-year process, and it all starts with choosing a specialization (technicians can specialize in three areas: drivetrain, chassis, or engine), and then the technician takes online classes.
"Once you’ve completed the online training, you spend a week outside of Minneapolis doing hands-on training, and you make about 25 different trips to do that,” said Else. “It’s a lot of time.”
But the payoff of all that time?
“I’m a diesel specialist, so that’s the department where I’m planning to stay at Eide Ford,” said Johnson. “We have the best diesel shop in town. There is no one who cares about these engines as much as we do. We just do it right.”

Q: This is a major accomplishment. What was the training like?
A: Well, it took a while, but it was good. I made about 25 or so visits to Minneapolis – sometimes on short notice, but it was very helpful for my job.
Q: What do you like about working at Eide Ford’s diesel shop?
A: It’s just a great group of people who really care about the work that gets done. There’s no better place in town.
Q: What makes your shop different than other diesel shops in the Bismarck area?
A: We really care about diesel trucks. It’s all we work on. No one in town knows more about them than we do. We know everything there is to know about Powerstroke Super Duty trucks.
Q: Is there anyone you’d like to thank for supporting you in earning the certification?
A: First off, I’d like to thank Ryan Else. He spearheaded this thing. Andrea Fleck also kept me on track. They’d both bring me print-outs and highlight the classes that I still needed to take. They also kept a close eye on openings for the classes I needed to go to in person. Sometimes it was short notice, but we made it work!
Q: What’s next for you?
A: Keep learning. I could do online training until the cows come home. There are new classes every month. Every time Ford introduces a new technology, we’ll be learning about it. That’s how we can keep providing better service.
