A Standout Saleswoman: Meet Megan Thompson, May 2020 Employee of the Month

Our most recent Employee of the Month for May 2020 is relatively new to the Eide Ford team. She’s young and she’s tough — and she loves to help Bismarck customers find a new Ford they can be excited about.
Megan Thompson started as a Sales Consultant in February 2020. While this is her first job in the automotive industry, she jumped into her role already having experience with vehicles.
“My grandpa constantly had old cars and would fix them up,” Megan says. “I watched him and fell in love with vehicles. So when this job opened up, I went out on a limb and applied.”
A Strong Start for a Strong Saleswoman
Megan says that her auto-loving Grandpa is very proud of her. As he should be. After all, Megan is already thriving as a young woman in a male-dominated industry, bringing unique strengths to the sales team at Eide Ford.
“I need to be very strong and independent and I need to show the guys what a girl is made of sometimes,” Megan explains. “They don’t always expect me to know half the stuff I do.”
However, Megan says she loves the challenge.
“I get to show the boys that I can do it, and that I care for them at the same time; there’s friendly competition.”
That go-getter attitude and team player mentality pay off. According to Jesse Schuchard, General Sales Manager, Megan was selected as Employee of the Month because she had a great month in May.
“In addition to her own sales, she also sold five cars for others,” Jesse says. “She was just helping out and not expecting anything in return, but just making sure our customers were taken care of.”
Jesse adds that Megan’s personal principles are a great fit with the Eide Ford philosophy, making her transition to the team a slick one.
Aside from the positive working relationships at Eide Ford, Megan says her favorite part of the job is to watch Bismarck-Mandan customers drive away in their new ride.
“The excitement on their faces is what makes my job fun!” she says. “To help someone find the right vehicle for them and send them home ecstatic about it feels like being a kid at Christmas.”
Megan’s Advice for Ford Shoppers in North Dakota
To help customers find the right vehicle, Megan advises that Ford shoppers create a list of non-negotiable needs or wants — such as leather seats, a sunroof, or navigation — and then to be open to options as the sales team works with you to find the right fit.
Every North Dakota driver is different, after all, and there’s no one-size-fits-all vehicle.
Megan, for example, just leased a new 2020 Ford Explorer for its spacious interior and safety features — must-haves for a mom such as herself, she says.
“The Explorer is great for someone like me because it has a lot of storage. Plus, with the third row, everyone can fit in one vehicle when I’m with extended family,” she explains.
She says she also appreciates Ford Co-Pilot 360 technology which gives her peace of mind on the road.
Outside of the Dealership
When she’s not helping Eide Ford customers, Megan enjoys spending time at home playing “monster trucks” with her two-year-old, showing off her karaoke talents, or spending time at the lake.
To celebrate being chosen as Employee of the Month, Megan received a gift card to Space Aliens in Bismarck, where she and her son will go on a date after spending time at the zoo. Sounds like a great day!
